What makes AA such a successful treatment for alcoholism and drug addiction is the fellowship that it has to offer. As Bill Wilson put it so well himself, that as each alcoholic finds recovery he or she gives back and reaches out to other alcoholics in AA who need help and thus the links in the chain of AA continue to build into a huge chain of support. When you quit an addiction you are still lost and clinging for answers to calm you and help you keep straight. You must not hang around with your friends anymore and you must also keep away from the influence of the slippery places you once fruquented. So where better to go and find a clean sober enviroment with clean and sober people than an AA meeting. The members of AA will show you a bond and a love that noone else can show you because they themselves understand you because they have been there. The fellowship is the main key to the success of Alcoholics Anonymous. Just having someone there to call and ask for support and guidance when you need it is very important and key to your sobriety. The AA steps are not perfect but when you pick up the AA big book and just feel the aura that surrounds it, there comes with it a comfort that can calm ones jittery soul.
